Outreach

We are available to talk you and your community group about brain and language development.  We can discuss how language shapes the brain across the lifespan and describe the event-related potentials (ERP) technique.

To arrange for a visit from our team please contact: Caitlin O'Riordan at 01248 382 930 or email psu13b@bangor.ac.uk.

Some of the questions we will talk about include:

Q. How babies:

  • become tuned to their native language(s)
  • recognize words and the rhythm of their language(s)
  • learn the meanings of words in one or two languages

Q. If my baby hears two languages, will he/she get confused?

Q. How language can shape cognition for older adults who

  • have always been bilingual
  • have learned a second language late in life

Q. How can the event-related technique be used to study

  • language processing
  • cognitive processes
